Wall Art Contest
Freedom Without Walls at UVa asks you to participate in a Wall Art Contest. Celebrate freedom of speech in the exciting medium of Wall Art and win exciting prices and an invitation to the Freedom Without Walls Gala dinner.
To participate please submit your designs by September 21, 2009 to Gerrit Roessler (gkr5f) or Brett Martz (bcm3z), or deliver a hard copy to New Cabell 521 by that date. The Wall Art Contest Application is available for download here.
The contestants will have to provide a sketch of their planned design (for a 4′x8′ wall section) and a paragraph describing the meaning and relevance to the topic. The selected contributions will have four days to paint their segments from the 28th-1st.
The walls will go on display as a work in progress on the 28th, on the grassy area of the McIntire Amphitheatre. On that date, a blank section of wall will be made available for any and all students to “chalk” anything they want on it.
UPDATE (9/28): The wall panels are in place and artists have begun work. Read more about the Freedom Without Walls project at UVa and the Wall Art contest in this article in UVa Today.
The Jury consist of UVa art faculty and internationally renowned artists.
